Reading scale: 80 — non-vital pulp.
The electrode must not touch the gingiva or the reading will be incorrect. Place a lip hook, apply the electrode to the tooth (into the paste) — the device emits impulses and waits for the patient’s response. The display shows the intensity of the delivered impulses (green up to 39; red above 40, indicating need for root canal treatment). Stop the test when the patient begins to feel the stimuli.
