What is an RVG sensor?
RVG stands for RadioVisioGraphy. This technology is used as an alternative to X-ray radiography in dentistry. RVG sensors are developed with durability and image quality in mind. A hermetically sealed sensor housing makes the sensor waterproof for versatile applications. A shock-protection layer protects the sensor from bites and drops. The combination of a high-sensitivity scintillator, fiber optics, and a high-resolution durable CMOS detector helps obtain high-quality images.
How the RVG sensor works
The sensor has two sides — reactive and non-reactive. The reactive side must be used to acquire an image. Tissue is exposed to X-ray radiation and the refracted light is captured by the sensor. The image is processed instantly and converted to digital data via analog-to-digital converters, then sent to the computer for immediate viewing. The cable connection is on the inactive side. If the non-reactive side is exposed to X-ray, no image appears on screen. A USB transfers images to the computer and must be connected. The X-ray generator used must operate between 60 kV and 70 kV; generators below 60 kV are not compatible. If images appear too dark, reduce exposure time; if grainy, increase exposure time. Generator type also affects image quality.
