Best in class
Since the introduction of MBCP® Technology for bone regeneration 25 years ago, Biomatlante has been at the forefront of developing new synthetic bone graft matrices for bone regeneration to best meet the needs of surgeons and patients.
Innovative
Partnerships with research institutes and universities have enabled us to maintain leadership in developing innovative materials for bone regeneration to meet today’s demanding requirements.
Safe
Patient safety will always be our highest priority. We continually work to offer products with the highest safety profile for bone regeneration. Surgeons in more than 50 countries have entrusted us with the well-being of more than 1,000,000 patients.
Ideally, any biocompatible synthetic bone graft substitute used to replace or augment graft material should integrate with surrounding bone tissue as seen with autologous graft and ultimately be replaced by new healthy bone.
MBCP® is a biphasic calcium phosphate synthetic bone graft substitute with a unique micro- and macroporous structure that most closely resembles the architecture of natural human bone. Soluble and resorbable, it dissolves slowly in the body and supports new bone formation through the release of calcium and phosphate ions. Over time the porous structure is fully infiltrated and replaced by healthy, living bone.
- Osteoconductive: Provides a matrix for new bone growth
- HA and TCP: HA alone resorbs too slowly while TCP resorbs too quickly. Biphasic HA and TCP allow a resorption rate similar to human bone
- 70% porosity similar to cancellous bone: An interconnected network of macropores and micropores enabling even colonization of the matrix by bone cells and biological fluid
- Bioactive: For ionic exchange — TCP dissolution and bone crystal precipitation create a new bioactive interface with bone cells
- Macroporosity: Macropores are a network of interconnected spaces that support biological infiltration and cellular colonization by osteoblasts and osteoclasts
- Microporosity: Micropores are intercrystalline spaces where dissolution and recrystallization occur
- More than 30 years of clinical experience: Host bone formation has been demonstrated
- Safe: 100% synthetic — 5-year shelf life
Orthopedics and maxillofacial
Intended for use as a bone graft to fill or reconstruct bone defects or voids in the skeletal system (e.g. extremities, spine and pelvis, teeth) that are not critical to the stability of the bone structure. Bone defects may result from trauma or surgically created defects. May be used together with autograft as a bone graft expander.
